How do I make a drawing actually look like chalk?
Chalk sits on top of a textured surface rather than soaking in. Ask for broken strokes that skip over the grain, visible dust at the stroke edges, and a surface texture underneath. A smooth even line reads as a marker instead.
What is the difference between chalk and chalk pastel?
Hard chalk gives a dry, dusty line and is what you get on a board or pavement. Chalk pastel is softer and carries much more pigment, so it blends into flat areas of colour. Name which one you want, because they look very different.
How do I draw on a chalkboard without the lettering going wrong?
Ask for a decorative border with a blank panel and no text at all. Generated lettering tends to come back malformed, so adding real type yourself on the Canvas gives a far cleaner result.
