FAQs

How do I draw graffiti letters that look right?
Start from the skeleton. Ask for simple block letterforms first, then add the outline weight, the drop shadow and the highlight as separate instructions. Piling every effect into one prompt usually blurs the shapes.
What is the difference between bubble and wildstyle?
Bubble letters are rounded, separate and legible. Wildstyle interlocks the letters with arrows and bars until the word almost disappears. Name which one you want, because the generated result defaults to something in between.
Why should I ask for abstract letterforms rather than real words?
Generated lettering is unreliable at word level and often produces garbled text. Ask for abstract letterforms, then set real type on the Canvas or in your layout tool if you need a word to be readable.
How do I get the spray paint look in a drawing?
Ask for soft overspray at the edges of each fill and thin drips running from the lower contours. Those two details carry the aerosol look more than the colour choice does.
Which surface should I draw the piece on?
Sketchbook or blackbook paper for a draft, concrete render for a wall piece, and a ribbed metal shutter when you want the surface itself to break the letterforms up.
Can I keep one graffiti style across a whole set?
Yes. Generate the piece you like, then use Style Transfer to hold the outline weight, fill treatment and palette while you change the letterforms and the surface.
