How do I draw a neuron so the branches look natural?
Dendrites should taper and thin at every split, never stay the same width, and they should branch at uneven angles. Even, symmetrical branching is what makes a neuron drawing read as a decorative snowflake rather than a cell.
What parts should a neuron drawing include?
The cell body, the branching dendrites around it, the axon running away from it and the terminal branches at the far end. Myelin segments along the axon are optional. Naming the parts you want keeps the model from inventing extra structures.
How do I draw a synapse?
Crop in close and show one swollen axon terminal facing a dendrite with a narrow gap between them. Keep the gap visible. Drawing the two touching is the most common error and it removes the one thing the diagram is meant to show.
How do I get a neuron drawing that is not glowing blue?
Name the medium and the surface directly: technical pen on white paper, graphite on toothy paper, coloured pencil on cream. The glowing render look dominates search results, and the only way past it is to describe a real drawing tool.
Can I add labels to a neuron diagram?
