FAQs

How do I draw sea waves?
Draw each wave as a curve that rises, curls over at the top and falls into a trough. Keep the crests light, shade the face of the wave darker and make the waves smaller as they move back toward the horizon.
How do I draw a calm sea?
Use long, flat horizontal strokes that get closer together toward the horizon. Leave a narrow strip of light below the sun or moon to show the reflection.
Where should I put the horizon line?
Place it about a third of the way up or down the page. A low horizon gives more sky, and a high horizon gives more water.
Which colors work for a sea drawing?
Mix blues and greens for the water, darker near the front and paler near the horizon. Leave the white of the paper for foam and highlights.
What is an easy sea drawing for kids?
Draw a few wavy blue lines, a sun and one or two sea creatures below the surface. Thick marker or crayon outlines keep it simple.
Can I animate a sea drawing?
Yes. Send it to Image to Video and describe a gentle motion, such as waves rolling in, a boat rocking or light shimmering on the water.
