How do I draw a shooting star that looks like it is moving?
Taper the trail and let it fade before it reaches the edge of the page. A trail that keeps an even width reads as a ribbon. Breaking the last third into shortening dashes sells the speed better than any extra detail.
Which way should the trail point?
Behind the head, along a straight line, never curved. A curve turns it into a decorative swoosh. If you want several, ask for them to radiate from one point in the sky, which is how a real shower looks.
How do I draw a shooting star on black paper?
Work in white gel pen or white chalk and put the brightest mark at the head only. Keep the background stars small and unevenly spaced, and leave plenty of empty black so the streak stays the loudest thing in the frame.
How do I make a simple shooting star icon?
Ask for flat vector line art: a filled circle for the head and three straight tapering lines behind it, one colour, no shading. Check it at small size on the Canvas, since thin trails are the first thing to disappear.
