How do I draw a snail shell spiral correctly?
Start from the centre point and work outward, making each turn wider than the last rather than keeping them evenly spaced. Three to four whorls is enough. Naming the whorl count and saying the turns widen fixes the flat target shape most drawings end up with.
Where does the shell sit on a snail body?
The shell sits above and slightly behind the middle of the foot, tilted back, never perched on top like a hat. Ask for the shell tilted back over the rear of the body with the opening facing forward and down, and the proportions read correctly.
How do I draw a simple snail for a beginner?
One long low curve for the foot, a spiral on top of it, two stalks with dots for eyes. Ask for a single even outline, no shading and no shell banding, and it stays clean enough to copy freehand.
