FAQs

How do I draw a treasure chest so the lid looks curved?
Draw the front face as a rectangle, then arc the lid across the top and repeat that same arc, smaller, on the far side. The two arcs are what sell the barrel shape. Add the iron bands following the curve, never straight across it.
How do I draw the coins inside a treasure chest?
Draw a handful of coins clearly at the rim and let everything behind them fall into texture. Ask for overlapping ellipses at different tilts rather than a neat pile. Detailing every coin flattens the heap and takes far longer.
How do I make a treasure chest look old and wooden?
Ask for grain running along the planks, a few splits at the corners and rivets set into the banding. Keep the iron darker than the wood. A chest with smooth surfaces and even tone reads as plastic no matter how good the outline is.
Can I get a treasure chest outline for a map or a party invitation?
Ask for flat vector line art with an even stroke, no shading and a plain white background. That version scales down to a map key or an icon without the interior lines filling in.
How do I draw a chest that is open toward the viewer?
Say the lid is tipped back past vertical and that you want the interior of the lid visible. Without that the model usually returns a side-on chest with the lid ajar, which hides the contents you wanted to show.
Can I keep one chest design across a whole set of drawings?
Yes. Use Style Transfer to hold the medium and palette, then generate the same chest closed, open and tipped over. Only the state changes in the prompt, so the ironwork and proportions stay consistent.
