Cuckoo clock

The two-note call as the little door snaps open, the hollow tick of the pendulum, and the rattle of chains as the weights go up. Describe the clock and Morphic generates it clean, from a crisp call to a wheezy one.

  • Ask for the hourly call, the pendulum tick or the chain being wound, and that is the take you get
  • A call made for the carved clock on the farmhouse wall in your scene, repeated as often as you ask
  • Comes back as clean, isolated audio you download and place on the exact frame the little door opens

Cuckoo clock sounds for games, animation, and video edits

Calling the hour

The door clacks open and the two-note call repeats, the take for the moment a clock strikes on screen.

Edit prompt

Pendulum ticking

A soft hollow tick and tock with a wooden knock, a quiet bed that lets time pass in a still scene.

Edit prompt

Coiled gong strike

A soft metallic bong with a long ringing tail, for a clock that strikes the hour on its gong alongside the call.

Edit prompt

Gears before the hour

Gears whirring and a ratchet click just before the call, the small warning that makes an audience wait.

Edit prompt

Winding the chains

A metal chain rattling over a sprocket in short tugs, the sound of someone keeping the old clock running.

Edit prompt

Worn call out of tune

A wheezy two-note call that sags and stutters, the take for an old house, a comic gag or a creepy scene.

Ways to use a cuckoo clock sound effect

Make the hour arrive right on cue

The door snapping open on the exact frame gives a gag or a deadline its punch, in an animated short, a sitcom edit or a puzzle game.

Let time pass in a still scene with no score

A steady wooden tick carries a long, wordless shot of someone waiting at a table, holding a film, a game cutscene or a podcast pause together.

Place the story in an old mountain house

A soft gong on the hour tells the audience it is a carved timber home with a stove and a clock on the wall, in video, games or audio drama.

Hint that a house has been left to decay

A worn call wheezing out of tune from another room says nobody has looked after the place in years, so the camera never has to show it.

FAQs

What is a cuckoo clock sound effect?
It is a recording of a cuckoo clock at work, calling the hour, ticking, striking its gong or being wound, used to place one in a scene. The two-note call comes from small bellows pipes, so it has a soft whistled tone that a digital chime lacks, and that is what makes the clock instantly recognisable.
Where can I get cuckoo clock sounds for a video?
Generate them. Describing the take you want is quicker than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact call, tick or strike your scene needs. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt beside it, so you can start from one and change the wording.
How do I make a custom cuckoo clock sound effect?
Describe the clock, the part you want to hear and how many times it repeats, then generate it. A prompt like "a wooden cuckoo clock striking the hour, a small door clacking open and a two-note call" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a cuckoo call, a gong strike and a tick?
The call is the two-note whistle from the bellows pipes, the sound most people picture. The gong strike is a soft metallic bong from a coiled wire that some clocks sound alongside the call. The tick is the pendulum and escapement, the quiet steady sound the clock makes the rest of the hour.
Can I use these cuckoo clock sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my cuckoo clock sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the call and the door are out of step with the picture. The clack of the door should land on the frame it opens, with the first note a moment after. Generate the call with its door clack, and if the clock is in the background, use the tick as a quiet bed so the call does not arrive from nowhere.
