FAQs
What is a record stop sound effect?
It is the sound of a vinyl record slowing and stopping, a platter winding down, music sliding in pitch or a hand halting the disc. People searching for it usually want the gag that freezes a scene.
Where can I get record stop sounds for a video?
Describe the stop you want and generate it, which is quicker than hunting for a clip at the right speed. Every sound here was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can edit and run it again.
How do I make a custom record stop sound?
Name what is slowing and how it ends. A prompt like "a turntable platter winding down after the motor is cut, falling pitch to a slow groan" gives Morphic a clear fall from start to silence.
What is the difference between a record stop and a record scratch?
A record stop is a slowing, a falling pitch that ends in quiet. A record scratch is a quick back and forth rub of the disc under the needle, ending on a sharp zip, so it feels like a jolt rather than a fade.
Can I use these record stop sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. The sounds are generated for your project instead of cut from a commercial track.
Why does my record stop sound abrupt?
If it cuts off with no fall, ask for a slower pitch drop and a final settle, and place the stop on the exact frame the joke or reveal begins. A longer descent suits a party dying, a click suits a switch.
