FAQs
What is a spit sound effect?
It is the noise of expelling saliva or liquid from the mouth: a hawk and spit, a raspberry, a spray of drink. They are vocal sounds, so most carry a wet, close and slightly crude character.
Where can I get spit sounds for a video?
Describe the spit and generate it, so you are not stuck with the one raspberry every sketch channel already uses. The prompt for each sound is printed beside it.
How do I make a custom spit sound effect?
Say what kind of spit it is, a hawk, a pop or a spray, and how wet it should be, then generate. A prompt like "a person blowing a raspberry, a wet buzzing flutter that sputters out" is a good start.
What is the difference between a spit and a spit take?
A spit is a small deliberate expulsion with a sharp wet pop. A spit take is a sudden spray of liquid triggered by surprise, usually with a gasp. They fit very different scenes.
Can I use these spit sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Each take is generated for you, so it is not the same clip as in a thousand other comedy edits.
Why does my spit sound too cartoonish?
Exaggerated wetness reads as a gag. Ask for a drier, shorter spit with less spray, close to the microphone, and place it on the exact frame the mouth opens.
