How do I draw a cupcake that looks like a cupcake and not a muffin?
The paper case does it. A cupcake sits in a pleated case with a straight flared side and a visible rim, and the icing is a separate shape piped on top that overhangs that rim. A muffin has a domed top that spills over a plain case with no piped swirl, so keeping the case pleats and the icing overhang reads correctly straight away.
