How do I draw lightning so it looks real?
Vary the widths. A real channel is thickest near the cloud and every fork is thinner than the one it came from, so nothing should stay the same weight. Ask for tapering branches and irregular angles rather than a neat zigzag.
How do I make lightning look like it is glowing?
Darken everything around it instead of brightening the bolt. Ask for a heavy shaded sky and the channel left as bare paper, or white chalk on black. The glow comes from the contrast, not from drawing the light itself.
What is the easiest way to draw a lightning bolt?
The flat geometric zigzag, three or four angled segments with a single fork. Ask for even edges, one flat colour and no shading, and it works as an icon or a sticker straight away.
Can I get a lightning bolt on a plain background?
