How do I draw a skateboard so the shape reads correctly?
The deck is a long rounded rectangle with both ends kicked upward and a slight dip in the middle. Draw the side profile first and get that curve right. A perfectly straight plank with wheels under it is the most common flat-looking result.
How do I draw skateboard trucks?
Block the truck as a wedge hanging from the deck with the axle crossing it, then add the kingpin and bushing on top. Ask for simple shapes. Trucks drawn with full hardware detail fight the deck for attention and rarely help the drawing.
What angle is best for a skateboard drawing?
The underside view shows the deck graphic, both trucks and all four wheels at once, which is why board catalogues use it. The side profile is better if you want the concave and the kick to read, and it is much easier to keep accurate.
How do I draw grip tape so it looks rough?
Ask for even dense tone across the deck top rather than drawn grains, then lift a few worn patches back where the feet land. The contrast between the flat dark tape and the scuffed lighter patches is what makes it read as sandpaper.
