How do I draw falling water so it looks like it is moving?
Keep the water as the lightest area on the page and let the rock carry all the tone. Ask for vertical strokes that stay parallel down the fall and break into curves only where the water hits something.
How do I draw the spray at the bottom of a waterfall?
Ask for a soft edge rather than a drawn one. Spray reads best as lifted or blurred tone with no outline, so say the base is hazy and the rock behind it fades out instead of being detailed.
Is a waterfall easier to draw in pencil or in ink?
Pencil is more forgiving because you can grade the rock tone and lift the water back out. Ink gives a bolder result but you have to decide the white water shapes before you start.
How do I draw the rock around a waterfall?
