Troubleshooting

Fixes for Morphic for Blender, from installing and signing in to scripts, generations and sending renders.

Find the problem you are seeing:

There is no Morphic tab

Press N in the 3D viewport to open the sidebar; the 'Morphic' tab is on its right edge. If it is not there, check Edit > Preferences > Add-ons: Morphic must be listed and turned on. Morphic for Blender needs Blender 4.2 or later.

'Allow online access to use Morphic'

Blender blocks add-ons from the internet until you allow it. Open Edit > Preferences > System > Network and turn on 'Allow Online Access'.

Sign-in does not finish

  • Finish in the browser within five minutes of clicking 'Sign in to Morphic', then go back to Blender. If it took longer, click the button again
  • The browser returns to Blender through your own computer. A firewall or VPN that blocks local connections stops this; allow Blender or pause the VPN while you sign in
  • If the browser shows 'This authorization request can't be completed', start again from Blender in the same browser

'Signed out of Morphic'

Your connection ended: it was revoked on the MCP settings page, or it was unused for 30 days. Your chat stays on screen. Click 'Sign in to Morphic' to carry on.

'Sign in again to use generation'

A sign-in from an older version of the add-on cannot generate. Click 'Sign in to Morphic' once more and approve the new permissions.

Copilot does not change the scene

  • Check for a card waiting for 'Apply' further up the chat. Nothing runs until you click it
  • Copilot only changes the scene when you ask for a change. "What's in this scene?" only reads it

A script failed or changed too much

Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on macOS) once to undo the whole script. Then tell Copilot what went wrong, for example "that made everything too bright, undo is done, try a softer key light". If a script failed with an error, Copilot sees the error and usually fixes it on its next try.

A card can only be skipped

The card says 'The script didn't reach Blender, so it can only be skipped' when the script was lost on the way, usually after a dropped connection. Click 'Skip' and ask again.

The Generate button stays grey

Read the note above the button:

  • 'Write a prompt': the 'Image' and 'Video' tabs need a prompt
  • 'Select an object with an image texture, or open an image in the Image Editor': the '3D' tab makes a model from an image, never from a prompt alone. See 'Selected image' finds no image
  • A note about the model: the length, shape or input is not one that model supports. Pick another 'Duration' or 'Aspect ratio', or another model
  • Not enough credits: check 'Credits left' at the top of the tab, and see Plans and credits
  • 'Pricing…': wait a moment; the price updates after you stop typing

A generation failed

Its row under 'Generations' says why. A prompt that a model's content rules refuse fails this way too; reword the prompt or pick another model.

'Selected image' finds no image

'Selected image' uses the image texture of the active object, or the image open in the Image Editor. Click the object, for example the plane a generated image landed on, so it is active, then generate again. Or switch 'Reference' to 'Viewport capture'.

The placed video is missing after moving the .blend

Placed videos are copied into a 'morphic_media' folder next to the saved .blend. Move that folder with the .blend. For a .blend that was never saved, the video stays in the add-on's cache, so save the .blend before you generate videos you want to keep.

'Render the scene first'

'Send render' sends the last still you rendered in this Blender session. Render with F12, then click it again.

'Send animation' asks for a video format

'Send animation' sends one video file. In the 'Output' tab, make the output a video ('Media Type' 'Video' in Blender 5.0 and later, 'File Format' 'FFmpeg Video' in 4.x) with the 'Container' set to MPEG-4, QuickTime or WebM, then render the animation again. See Send an animation.

My chats are in an unexpected project

Each .blend's chats, generations and renders go to one Morphic file, created in the newest project you made yourself, or your organization's default project if you have none. See Where your work goes. To use another project for new .blend files, create a project in Studio first: the next new .blend uses it.

No update is offered

Blender only checks for updates on start when 'Check for Updates on Startup' is on for the Morphic repository. Turn it on under Edit > Preferences > Get Extensions > Repositories, or click 'Check for Updates' in the Get Extensions menu. If you installed from disk, install the new zip the same way. See Update.
