Troubleshooting generations

Fixes for results that come out wrong on Morphic: the wrong person, a face that drifts, ignored instructions, missing sound, misspelled text and blocked generations.

Most results that miss come from something the prompt left out or left attached. Find the symptom below; each fix links to the full guide in Prompting.

Characters

Wrong person in the shot

People swap places, or the background comes from the wrong image.

  • Give each attached reference one job in the prompt, like @Maya, face and costume only and @Kitchen for the location
  • Remove references left over from an earlier prompt

See References in a prompt.

Extra people in the shot

A line like "she stands with four others" leaves the model to invent four people.

  • Name and tag every person who should be there
  • For a crowd, tag the main characters and describe everyone else as background

Shot copies the reference pose

The character stands exactly as on their reference sheet instead of acting in the scene. Usually the prompt named the character but not the action. Describe what they do and where, and let the reference carry only the look.

Face changes between shots

Usually the character was named in the prompt but their reference was not tagged, so the model drew a face of its own. Tag the character's reference in every shot, including side characters who appear more than once.

Outfit does not change

The reference shows one outfit and the prompt asks for another, and the reference often wins. Use a reference that shows the new outfit, and remove the old one from the prompt.

Face changes after a small edit

A request like "keep the face, fix the dress" regenerated the whole image. Edit the image instead, name the one thing to change, and add Change nothing else. See Asking for changes.

Video

Actions skipped or out of order

The clip was asked to cover several actions. Give each clip one action, or write the beats as Shot 1 (4s): ... Shot 2 (4s): .... See Video prompts.

Too much or too little movement

The prompt did not say how the camera or the subject moves. Name both, like Locked-off camera. She blinks and breathes. No walking.

Next clip does not match the last

Positions, props or poses jump at the cut. Start the next clip from the last frame of the one before, and say where everyone is. See Extend video.

Video has no sound

Copilot adds audio only when the prompt asks for it. Say Include audio, or describe the dialogue, music or sound you want. To keep audio you uploaded, say Keep my uploaded audio as it is.

Wrong person speaks

The dialogue was given as one paragraph. List each line with its speaker, in order, and keep to one or two lines per clip. See Dialogue.

Voice changes between shots

A voice is not saved to a character, so each line uses whichever voice is chosen for it. Choose the same voice for every line the character speaks.

Images

Result looks generic

The prompt was a few words, so the model chose the rest. Give the subject, setting, framing, light and style in the first prompt. See Parts of a prompt.

Wrong aspect ratio or size

The prompt asked for one ratio and the prompt bar settings say another. Set the aspect ratio and resolution in the settings, and in Copilot add them to your standing rules.

Text is misspelled

Put the exact words in quotes and keep them to a few words. Add longer text afterwards as subtitles or an overlay.

Captions appear in the image

Dialogue or labels in an image prompt get drawn into the picture. Remove them, or add No text, no captions.

Copilot

Copilot ignores an earlier instruction

A rule given once, mid-job, gets lost in a long chat. Give standing rules as a short list, ask Copilot to confirm them, and restate the list when you start a new batch. See Working with Copilot.

Copilot did more or less than asked

The approval did not say what to make. Name the items, the format and where they go, like Scenes 2 and 3 only, as separate clips.

Copilot stops partway through a large job

A large job runs in parts, and Copilot may be waiting for your approval. Ask for it in batches with a stop between them, like Shots 1 to 10, then wait for my OK.

Copilot forgets parts of a long script

Pasted text is summarized as the chat grows, so details can drop out of what Copilot works from. Attach the script as a file instead, and work through it a scene at a time. See Long scripts.

Blocked generations

The message reads "The content was flagged by Morphic content moderation" or "The content was flagged by the selected model's content policy checker".

Morphic and each model check requests against their content rules. Trying the same request again, or adding that the people are fictional, does not change what the check sees. Rewrite the shot so it fits the rules:

  • Show the moment another way, like the reaction or a cut away, and leave out graphic detail
  • Describe an original character instead of a real person or a well-known character
  • Describe the style of music you want instead of naming a song

That's how you fix the most common generation problems on Morphic. When a result misses, check the prompt and its references against the symptom here before you generate again.
