Reverse cymbal

A crash cymbal played backward swells from a faint hiss to a bright wash, then lands on a hit. Pick a crash, a gong or a hi-hat swell and Morphic generates it to your length.

Ways to use a reverse cymbal sound effect

Build up to the title or the product reveal

A crash swell that peaks on the cut makes the reveal feel earned, in a trailer, a social video or a game intro.

Smooth a cut between two quiet shots

A short hi-hat flick or splash snap carries the ear across a hard cut without any music, in a vlog, a slideshow or a lesson video.

よくある質問

What is a reverse cymbal sound effect?
It is a cymbal recording played backward so the tail comes first, producing a swell that rises to a sudden stop. Editors use it as a riser before a cut, a drop or a title.
Where can I get reverse cymbal sounds for a video?
Describe the cymbal and the length of the swell and generate it, which beats scrolling sample packs for a riser that fits your cut. Each sound on this page came from the prompt shown with it.
How do I make a custom reverse cymbal?
Say which cymbal is played backward and how it should end, for example "a reversed gong swelling slowly, ending on one mallet hit". Add the length of the swell and generate.
How is a reverse cymbal different from a general reverse sound?
A general reverse sound can be any audio flipped. This page is only cymbals, so every cue has the shimmering metallic wash of a cymbal rather than a voice or an impact.
Can I use these reverse cymbal sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. A swell made for your edit is also unlikely to match one in a competing video.
Why does my riser not land on the beat?
The peak of a reverse swell is where the cut should fall. Slide the clip so the end of the swell sits on the frame you want, and ask for the version that finishes on a hit for a clearer landing.
