Chomp sound effects

One bite taken: the crisp snap of an apple, the wet cartoon chomp, the hard snap of jaws on nothing, the soft mouthful, and three quick bites in a row.

  • Ask for what is being bitten, because the material decides the sound far more than the mouth does
  • A bite cut for your frame rather than a stock chomp used across other productions
  • Download clean audio and drop it straight into your edit
Chomp sound effects

Bites for animation, games, and video

Crisp apple

A single sharp fracture with a wet edge. The fracture is the sound, which is why soft food never reads as a bite.

Cartoon chomp

Soft jaws closing hard and fast with a rounded smack. Exaggerated on purpose, because realism does not land in animation.

Jaws on nothing

A hard dry clack with no wetness at all. A miss rather than a bite, and far more threatening than a hit.

Soft mouthful

A dull wet closure with no fracture in it. For bread, cake, or anything that does not resist.

Three quick bites

Three fast bites at uneven spacing. The unevenness is what stops it sounding mechanical.

Huge bite

A slow heavy closure with a deep wet crunch. Scale lives in how long the closure takes, not in volume.

Ways to use a chomp sound effect

Punctuate a bite on screen

Land the fracture on the frame the teeth meet the food, which is the one frame an audience checks without meaning to.

Fill a comic beat without music

Three quick bites at uneven spacing carries two seconds of somebody eating fast, and the rhythm does the joke.

Tell the audience how big the mouth is

A quick sharp fracture reads as a person. A slow heavy closure with a long settle reads as something you would not want to meet.

Imply the thing you never show

A dry snap on empty air puts jaws just outside the frame, and the miss is more frightening than a hit would be.

FAQs

How is this different from the chewing page?
Count. A chomp is one closure and sits on a single frame. Chewing is a mouth working over several seconds and is usually an ASMR or comic texture. They are separate pages because they are separate events.
Why does my bite sound like nothing?
The food was too soft in the prompt. The fracture is the sound, so ask for a hard juicy item with a sharp fracture. A yielding food genuinely makes very little noise, in life as well as in a generation.
How do I make jaws sound big?
Slow the closure down. An enormous bite takes time to close and settles afterwards, where a quick snap reads as small no matter how loud it is.
What is the most useful clip here?
Jaws on nothing. A dry clack on empty air implies a creature just out of frame, and a miss unsettles an audience far more than a successful bite does.
Why do my three bites sound mechanical?
The spacing is even. Ask for uneven spacing between them, because nothing alive repeats an action on a fixed interval and that irregularity is the whole cue.
Can I use these in a commercial project?
Yes. Audio generated on a paid Morphic plan is cleared for commercial use, including advertising, animation, and games.
