Set a grimy bar or diner at a glance

A flickering tube tells the viewer the place is run-down before anyone speaks, in a noir, a cyberpunk game or an indie drama.

Suggest a sign is about to fail

Zaps and sizzles imply a fault we never see up close, in a thriller, a horror scene or a vehicle chase passing a shopfront.

FAQs

What is a neon sound effect?
It is the electrical buzz of a lit glass-tube sign: a thin hum, a flicker as the gas catches, a relay clunk when it switches on. It is the sound that makes a lit sign feel real on camera.
Where can I get neon sounds for a video?
Describe the tube behaviour you want and generate it. A prompt-built buzz can be steady or failing, which a single stock hum cannot offer.
How do I make a custom neon buzz?
Start with the mechanism, a thin electrical hum from a glass tube, and add that it is unbroken with a faint high whine. Naming the transformer or the relay gives extra layers.
What is the difference between a neon buzz and a transformer whine?
The buzz comes from the lit tube itself and is thin and slightly crackling. The whine is the high-voltage box feeding the tube, a higher steady whistle. Layering both gives the most convincing sign.
Can I use these neon sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Generated sounds are made to your prompt.
Why does my neon hum sound like a fridge?
A low rounded motor tone is not a tube. Ask for a thin electrical buzz with a faint high whine and crackle, and avoid words like rumble or motor.
