FAQs
What is a pan sound effect?
It is the sound of a cooking pan as an object: struck, dropped, scraped, set down or rattling its lid. A heavy pan gives a deep ringing bong, while a thin saucepan clatters and rattles, so the pan you pick changes how the moment reads.
Where can I get pan sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the pan sound you need takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact take your scene needs. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom pan sound effect?
Describe the pan and what happens to it, then generate it. A prompt like "a metal saucepan dropped on a hard tiled floor, a loud clang and bouncing clatters" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a pan hit, a pan drop and frying?
A pan hit is a single strike with a long ringing decay, used for comic bonks. A pan drop is a clang followed by bounces and a rattle as it settles. Frying is the sizzle of food in hot oil, a separate sound you would layer on top.
Can I use these pan sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my pan sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the ring is too long or too short for the shot. A pan that is caught or put down after a hit should stop ringing, so trim the tail there, and let it ring out only when the pan is left alone. Match a heavy pan on screen with a deep bong and a light one with a brighter clatter.
