A rising electric whine and wheels clacking over joints as a street car rolls past, then fades down the road.
Onboard hum
A steady motor hum and a gentle clack of rail joints, the sound of riding inside a tram across town.
Overhead wire buzz
A sizzling electric hiss with sharp spark snaps, the sound of the pantograph riding the wire overhead.
Curve squeal
A long high metal squeal as the wheels grind round a tight corner, unmistakably a city tram turning.
Stop and doors
A braking hiss, doors folding open with a sigh and a chime, then closing, for arrivals and departures at a stop.

Ways to use a tram sound effect
Keep a ride across town going without music
A steady onboard hum carries a long window-seat sequence with nobody talking, in a film, a vlog or a narrative podcast.
Edit prompt
Set a scene in an old city centre
A tram rolling past tells the audience they are on a historic street before the buildings appear, in film, audio drama or an open-world game.
Edit prompt
Let a tram turn the corner just off screen
A wheel squeal from round the bend says a tram is coming before anyone sees it, so a chase, a near miss or a game level can build to it.

FAQs
What is a tram sound effect?
It is a recording of a street tram, the electric car that runs on rails set into the road and draws power from an overhead wire. Its signature sounds are the bell, the electric motor whine, wheel squeal on curves and the sizzle of the wire, which set a scene in a city street.
Where can I get tram sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the tram moment you need takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact take your scene needs. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom tram sound effect?
Describe the part of the tram and what it is doing, then generate it. A prompt like "a tram taking a tight curve on steel rails, a long high metallic wheel squeal" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a tram and a train sound?
A tram is a light electric street car, so it sounds smaller and closer: a bell, a motor whine, wheels squealing on tight street corners and the hiss of an overhead wire. A train is heavier and faster on its own track, with a horn or whistle and a deep rumble of many carriages. Pick the tram when the scene is on a city street.
Can I use these tram sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my tram sound not sit right in the edit?
Often it is too heavy. Train rumble under a tram shot makes it feel like a freight line, while a tram is lighter and more electric. Use a tram pass-by with a motor whine, add the bell at the moment it appears, and let the wheel squeal play only when the tram is actually turning.
