Missing textures
Image files a material can no longer find, which Blender shows as bright pink
Why are my textures pink in Blender?
Missing textures are image files a material points to that the 3D app can no longer find. Blender draws them in bright pink or magenta, a warning color, in place of the image. It usually happens when a .blend file or its images were moved, renamed or opened on another computer.
Think of it like this
It is like a picture frame that only holds a note saying which drawer the photo is in: move the photo and the frame shows a blank warning card.

How missing textures work
- 01A material stores a file path to each image, not the image itself.
- 02When the file is moved, renamed or left behind, that path breaks.
- 03Blender draws the missing image as solid pink so you notice it.
- 04Relinking the path, or packing images into the .blend file, brings the texture back.
Where missing textures are used
Beginner tip
Before sending a .blend file to someone, choose File > External Data > Pack Resources so the images travel inside it. Or keep textures in a folder beside the .blend and use relative paths.
