What counts as a human sound effect?
Any noise a body makes that is not speech: breath, throat, laughter, hands, footsteps, a pulse. They are treated as effects rather than dialogue because they are almost always added after the fact, once production sound has been cleaned of everything between the spoken lines.
How do I make a human sound effect from a description?
Describe the mechanism instead of the feeling. Say whose body it is, which part is moving, how many times it moves, and how long the whole thing lasts. A prompt reading four quick bursts of air from one chest returns a usable laugh, while the word laughter on its own returns a room full of strangers.
Why do my scenes sound empty even with clean dialogue?
Because dialogue cleanup removes the breath and body noise along with the hiss. A performer breathes, shifts, and swallows constantly, and once all of that is gone the voice sits in a vacuum. Laying human sounds back underneath is what makes a cleaned track sound like a person again.
How do I stop a generated breath sounding like a different person?
Pin the age and the effort in the prompt, and keep them identical across every take you generate for that character. Breath is read by an audience as a physical signature, so a heavier or younger take dropped into the middle of a scene registers as a second body in the room.
Can I generate a human sound that says an actual word?
Yes, but it needs a model that can speak. A sound effects model has no word to say, so a shout or a called name routes to ElevenLabs v3 while a breath or a clap stays on a sound effects model. That is why the called sound on this page is built differently from the rest.
