Use cases

Clear a caption or subtitle from a still

Grab a frame from a video and it often carries a burned-in caption, a subtitle, or a lower-third title. Mark the text band and the model rebuilds the scene it was sitting over, so you get a clean still to reuse in a thumbnail, a deck, or a print without the words across it.

Blank a sign, poster, or label

A shop sign, a billboard, or a product label with wording can date a photo or clash with your own message. Mark the text and the model keeps the sign or label but rebuilds a clean face, ready for you to leave blank or add your own copy over the top later.

Take watermark text off an image you own

A line of watermark text across a photo you have the rights to comes off cleanly. The model rebuilds the detail the letters were covering rather than blurring the strip, so the image reads as unmarked. Use it only on images you are entitled to edit.

Remove personal details from a photo

A licence plate, a phone number on a van, a name badge, or a house number can be details you would rather not publish. Mark the text and the surface behind it rebuilds, so you can share the photo without the identifying words while keeping the rest of the scene intact.

FAQs

How do I remove text from an image?
Mark the text you want gone and the model rebuilds the surface it was printed on. This is inpainting, so instead of painting a block over the words, it regenerates the wall, sky, fabric, or paper that the letters were covering. The result reads as if the text was never added, because the fill continues the surrounding scene rather than hiding the words behind a patch.
Does it work on text baked into a scene, like a sign?
Yes. It handles both text laid over a photo, like a caption or watermark, and text that is part of the scene, like a shop sign, a poster, or writing on a wall. For scene text the model rebuilds the sign face or surface, so the object stays but the words come off.
Can it clear a whole caption bar or subtitle?
Yes. Mark the full band of text, a caption strip along the bottom, a lower-third title, or a burned-in subtitle, and clear it in one pass. Because the model fills from what surrounds the strip, a busy background may want a rerun to keep the fill clean.
Will the spot look blurred where the text was?
No, that is the point of rebuilding rather than covering. Older tools drop a soft blur or a solid block over the words, which is obvious. Here the region is regenerated to match the texture and lighting around it, so there is no fuzzy rectangle left behind. If a patch does come back soft, rerunning usually fixes it.
Can I remove some words and keep others?
Yes. Mark only the words you want gone and leave the rest untouched. You can clear a phone number off a poster while keeping the headline, or drop one line of a caption and keep another, working line by line if the layout is tight.
What kinds of text can it take out?
Captions and subtitles, watermark text, dates and timestamps, logos with wordmarks, signage, labels, price tags, and handwriting. If you can point to the letters, you can ask for them to be removed and the surface behind them rebuilt.
Is there anything to install?
No. It runs on Morphic in the browser. Upload the image, mark the text, generate the clean version, and export it from the same canvas.
