Use cases

Fix flat midday portraits

A snapshot shot under harsh noon sun reads flat and unflattering. Relight it with a soft key from the side and a gentle fill, and the face gains shape and depth. You keep the person exactly as photographed and only change how the light falls on them.

Match product shots to one look

When a set of product photos were lit differently, the listing looks inconsistent. Relight each one to the same warm key and soft shadow so the whole grid reads as one shoot. No reshoot, no lightbox, just a consistent lighting brief applied across the set.

Change the time of day

Turn a flat overcast exterior into a warm golden-hour frame, or a bright daytime room into a cosy evening one. The building or the space stays the same, while the light warms up and the shadows lengthen to suggest a different hour.

Add drama to a scene

Push a plainly lit frame into a moody low-key look with a single hard light and deep shadow, or add a rim light behind the subject to lift them off the background. It is a fast way to give an ordinary photo a cinematic edge without staging a new shoot.

FAQs

What does the AI image relight tool do?
It changes the lighting on a photo you already have, instead of generating a new scene. You upload the shot, then describe the light you want, such as a warm window from the left or an overcast key from above. Morphic re-renders the light direction, warmth, and shadows on the existing subject while keeping the composition intact.
Can I move the direction of the light?
Yes. That is the main job. Tell it where the light should come from, such as hard from the right, soft from behind, or high and frontal, and the highlights and shadows shift to match. It reads the shapes already in the photo, so a face keeps its features and a product keeps its form as the light moves around it.
Can I change the mood without redoing the whole photo?
Yes. Warmth, contrast, and time of day are all part of the lighting, so a flat midday snapshot can become a warm golden-hour frame or a cool blue evening one. Because you are relighting the existing image rather than regenerating it, the subject and the set stay the same while the mood changes.
Will it keep my subject looking the same?
That is the goal. The tool works from the photo you upload, so the person, product, or room stays recognisable. Only the light behaves differently. On a tricky shot you can rerun with a clearer description or switch models until the relight sits naturally on the subject.
How is this different from a filter or a brightness slider?
A filter tints the whole frame and a slider lifts every pixel evenly. Relighting is directional. It adds a highlight where the new light would fall and deepens the shadow on the opposite side, so the result reads as a different light source, not a global colour wash.
Do I need to sign up to relight a photo?
You can browse the examples without an account. To relight your own image, a free account takes under a minute to set up, and then you upload, describe the light, and export from the same canvas.
